Welcome Makayla Grace Mellstrom
I am so humbled and blessed to introduce you all to this biggest miracle the Lord has Blessed my life with-
Our sweet baby girl Makayla Grace Mellstrom
Sunday morning, January 24, (2 weeks before my due date) I woke up at 6:30am to my water breaking :). I had a few minor contractions but nothing that was progressing so at noon I was induced. At 8:05pm the moment came we had been waiting for, we met our sweet little miracle for the first time. It was the most miraculous moment and one I can not put into words. We are beyond thankful to the Lord for this MIRACLE- everything about this lil girl is nothing short of a miracle. Science and dr's said it was very unlikely she would be conceived. Then when I was 12 weeks pregnant there was the car accident that was followed by my hemorrhage- we were told there was a big possibility of us loosing her. The rest of the pregnancy was a bit rocky due to the hemorrhage but day after day God shed His grace on us as He protected this miracle that He created. The delivery could not have gone smoother and for that we are so thankful- another huge blessing!
Shortly after we met our sweet girl we encountered a few challenges as my placenta begun to cause difficulties. I begun to loose a lot of blood and before I knew it I was whisked off to 3 surgeries to control the bleed. I was amazed by the peace I felt as I was in surgery and knew that the Lord was with me- I put my complete trust in Him and it was His grace that healed my body and prevented me from having to have a hysterectomy (which was the next procedure I would have had to have if the other 3 did not control the bleeding). Due to the complications I had faced we had an extended stay in the hospital for the past few days but yesterday we were released and are now at home :)- Praise God! At the moment I am enjoying every second, minute, and waking hour of motherhood and looking forward to recovering soon; due to the blood loss I am now severely anemic. I was very close to receiving a blood transfusion but for the time being the Lord has His hand on me and my body is slowly recovering. As I face the road to recovery I will consistently reflect on the Blessing of Life... God has showed me how miraculous life is in so many ways this past year and for that I am thankful.
I am especially thankful for the blessing of this life- Makayla Grace Mellstrom

I too, have a McKayla. Her & her twin brother were born 3 months early, both weighing 2 lbs. (that was 14 years ago).
They grow fast. Enjoy your time with her, she'll be crawling before you know it. :)
Wishing you a speedy recovery, Joanna
