Yesterday I mentioned that we had begun adding some life (some color) to the walls of our new home. Well, not only have we been adding color to the walls of our home but I guess you can say I've been giving color to anything I can get my hands on! Being that both David and I are only children we have received many hand me downs from our family..which is great but presents a bit of an obstacle when you are trying to decorate and coordinate your home. For example, this oak table was a part of my life growing up as it sat in my parents breakfast nook. This table has seen it's better days as it's been around and utilized for a very long time. Thankfully my parents did not throw it away when they purchased a new dining set a few years back. No, it's been sitting in there garage until their dear daughter mentioned that she was in need of a kitchen table and then guess where it came? You've got it, right here in our home. I am so thankful to have this table as it brings a bit of my childhood into my own home but the challenge was this- how do I spruce it up to become a part of my home and my decor? The answer is really quite simple...some good ol' fashioned spray paint! This past weekend I went through 12+ cans of spray paint but in the process I have transformed a hand me down oak table and chair, a hand me down oak bench, and a bargain goodwill buy (another oak chair) into this-
It's amazing how paint can transform some 'trash' as some people would call it into your very own 'treasure'.
This is another project that has been in the works for about a year or longer.
we lived in Ahwatukee our neighbors were about the throw these swivel stools away until they asked if we would want them and you bet you...I snatched them up in a heart beat. The quality of the stools was superb but the color and fabric was little to be desired, BUT I had hope for these suckers :). I've been wanting to paint them and recover the cushions for a very long time but lacked to the time to get it done. Well, this weekend I finally got around to it and now look-
Aren't they great :). I found this gorgeous fabric at Joanne's for $12/yard (normally $35/yard)!!! I could not be happier with the result.
So what's my next project you ask??? Some drapes for our kitchen out of some coordinating fabric...Here's a peek ;).
As you can see, Bella is eager to assist me with this next project!

Great work, Heather!! Nice job on making it yours!
This is beautiful. We have an oak table exactly like that that I would love to paint black. How did you prep the table and chairs before painting?
