Mission Accomplished....

Yesterday we saved a baby birdy :)!!! David came in and woke me up and told me that Dakota (our lab) had found a baby birdy. David looked up in the tree above where the birdy was found and sure enough, there was a nest. My hubby immediately picked up the bird, placed it in a shoe box, and gave it water. I found a contact number for the AZ Wildlife Bird Rescue and we gave them a call. She had asked that we take a photo of both the baby and the mama so they could identify what type of bird it was; I had thought it was a dove and sure enough she confirmed that for us. She instructed us to go ahead and put the baby back in the nest..so that's exactly what my hubby did. She did warn David that the mama bird might 'wing slap' him but other then that they were harmless. Luckily the mama didn't 'wing slap' my man but rather flew away for awhile while we completed our mission of birdy saving 2008 :). I'm happy to report that both babies (there was another one in the nest) and the mama are safe and sound up in our tree. Oh, and David is excited because the rescue organization loved the pictures he took of the birds and have asked his permission to use them and our bird saving story on their website :). I think I may have to make a mini book about our bird saving mission '08; in fact, I have a Maya Road bird chipboard album that's been waiting to be used :)..

Have a great weekend!

I'm lol at the whole "wing slap" thing, but it's such a sweet story!
