Our Nest...

Our nest here at the Mellstrom household is getting a lot of sprucing up these days. See... I'm still looking for a job which means in the meanwhile I have a lot of time to get caught up on completing the list of home decor projects that I've been wanting to create. This welcome wreath is one example of the many little creations I've been filling our home with the past few weeks. I had so much fun creating this welcome wreath for our front door that now I want to create one for every holiday (or month I should say). I have hopes of getting a patriotic one completed within the next few days so I can hang it up this weekend in observance of Memorial Day. Speaking of which, do you all have any big plans for the holiday weekend? We will be having a house guest this weekend, as my best friend called me last week and shared the great news that she would be traveling out here to spend some time with us over the holiday weekend- I can't wait! And by the way...can you believe it's May already? The other day I was just completely baffled at the mere fact that it's May! The local high schools are hosting graduation ceremonies and in only a few months we will be seeing holiday decor lining the isles of our local craft stores and boutiques (I can't wait by the way :)...but where does the time go???

PS- Does anyone have any good ideas on a finish I can apply to the 'Welcome' part of my wreath? It is hanging on the front door which means it will be weathered from the elements...I did add a layer of Modge Podge on the piece but was wondering if there is anything else that may help to preserve it. If you know of anything please let me know- I would greatly appreciate it!
